Fashion Friday

20 Apr

I cannot even tell you how much I want this skirt!

Or how about this combination, I already have the shirt, now I just NEED the skirt. Loving this look.

Oh and if you have a zillion dollars, how about this one?

Also how lovely is this piece of gorgeousness!

Well, I’m pretty sure I just ruined my streak of not shopping for clothing, because now I want to go SHOPPING!

Insert a little bit of cuteness for the day. Anytime my husband is wearing a hat, Aladdin feels the need to take it from him. No lie, he thinks all of Jordan’s hats are his. 🙂

Happy Friday Ya’ll!

Maelstrom’s Twin

4 Feb

About a year and a half ago, my husband and I found a little furry black puppy hand puppet at Ikea and weirdly enough we bought it thinking Aladdin just might like it. Understatement of the year, he LOVED it! It became his child and his nemesis. It was the strangest thing, he would carry that puppet around with him everywhere. He’d carry it over to his food dish, onto the couch and into bed with us. Then the moment you put your hand in the puppet, it was instant death. He wanted that little puppet dead.

Seeing him carry that little puppet around was seriously the cutest thing ever! Don’t ask how or where we came up with it, but the puppet somehow got the name of Maelstrom. Over time we would say “Aladdin, whereeeeeee’s Maelstrom and he would run and get it. If it wasn’t in the little basket of toys we have for him then he would hunt it down until he got it. It was his everything, next to mommy and daddy of course.

So when Aladdin and my husband and I left for Charlotte, North Carolina, we brought Maelstrom with us because 6 months without the little guy and healing from surgery was too hard on my little baby. Of course tragedy struck us about half way into the trip. Maelstrom was lost. I searched high and low for that little hand puppet and he was nowhere to be seen. So we decided to never mention his name again. It was so sad. When we got back to Austin, I would sometimes find Aladdin digging through his toys basket only to come up empty handed. I don’t really know what he was searching for but I suspect it was Maelstrom because he digs for toys all the time and won’t leave his basket until he gets what he’s looking for, so seeing that sad face after digging through his toy basket and walking away with nothing was sort of heart breaking.

Anyway long story short, yesterday my husband and I went to Ikea in search for a desk for our office and I casually mentioned we should check for another puppet. I knew a year and a half later all the toys would be new and they wouldn’t have any of the old stock they used to have, but hey, I was feeling like a guilty momma. So we entered the children’s department and sticking out of a pile of new bright fruit and vegetable stuffed toys was a little black face. Seriously my heart skipped a beat. There was one twin Maelstrom in the whole children’s department of Ikea. I’m not playing with you, there was only one. I don’t even think it was supposed to be there.

I can’t even explain how happy we were to find this little puppet!

If we’re this crazy about our puppy and his toys I don’t even want to know what kind of parents we’ll be. ha ha ha

Just let me tell you, the reunion between Aladdin and Maelstrom was epic. If you thought Homeward Bound was heartfelt you should have seen these two running for each other across the living room. I kind of felt like I was watching Peter and Shadow reunite again. Yep, I’m in my mid-twenties and referencing Homeward Bound, but what can I say, the end still makes me cry. 🙂

Thankful Thursday

26 Jan

Hey Guys, It’s me Aladdin!

I just figured since mom was busy that I would tell you what I’m thankful for…

My squeaky camo bone, because right now it’s so fun. It’s noisy and soft and when I chew it, I can feel the squeaker in there. That always makes me chew harder because I’m going to rip it out!

Mommy and Daddy’s cereal! I love when they eat this because I always get a couple. Also, sometimes I just sit really straight and stare at the box for a long time and when Mom comes in she just looks at me and makes all these really squeaky noises and then gives me some cereal. I don’t know why that works but it just does.

but what I’m most thankful for is when mommy sits down to work on her computer and then I hurry up on the couch and push her computer out of the way and sit on her lap. It’s snuggle time! I love to fall asleep on her legs.

Ooooh she’s coming, we’re going to snuggle, I better go!

Oh what are you thankful for? peanut butter? Me too!

Weathering Out A Storm

25 Jan

What do you like to do during a storm?

Here’s what we’re doing…

1. He just working and using his noise canceling headphones. He probably doesn’t even know there’s a storm. 😉
2. Got my candle lit just in case there’s a power outage and bonus these woodwick candles are heaven. Sounds like an itty bitty fireplace and smells divine!
3. Got my lifetime supply of cough drops… January has been bad to me.
4. Wrapped in my softest red blanket, acting like a weirdo.
5. Yep, my dog is a real man, that is his bone. ha ha (don’t worry he has little toys to, but he really likes this big bone.)
6. Got my new book, can’t tell you if it’s any good yet, I’m only 3 chapters in. Enjoying it so far.

Thankful Thursday

5 Jan

Last night I opened my salad spinner that I’ve had sitting in a cupboard since I got married two years ago and let me tell you, I had no clue what I was missing. It’s wonderful, no more paper towel pat drying my lettuce or getting a mouth full of watered down dressing. That spinner is awesome! So I have to say it, I’m thankful for my salad spinner!

As you can tell by all the carrot shreds, I’m loving this little device!

I’m thankful for a stunning Texas sunset! I took these shots a while back from our balcony and was just reminded of how much I love the sunsets here.

Isn’t that lovely?

I’m SO thankful for my sweet sleepy puppy, Aladdin! I love how cuddly he gets and just wants to lay in my lap.

I apologize for how dark the picture is. My husband is sleeping while I’m up at an absurd hour, I didn’t want to turn on any lights and wake my wonderful slumbering husband. So you have a very dimly lit shot of my oh so tired pup. He keeps giving me these sleepy evil eyes like I need to be in bed. Aladdin is right, it’s bedtime.

So the big question is… what are you thankful for?

Thankful Thursday

22 Dec

That’s right, I’m thankful for all of you reading and leaving comments! You guys are great! It makes blogging so much fun to know that people are enjoying reading as much as I’m enjoying writing! Stick around and I’ll continue to write, craft, sew, (occasionally bake), and share life with you guys!

Secondly, I’m thankful for Cake Pops!

I’m going to make a batch this evening with my sister and sister in law! Which by the way, Happy Birthday Tara! The three of us are going to take a bunch of goodies to neighbors and friends nearby and share the love and sugar! Also, we have to have cake pops for Tara’s birthday! Delicious…

Also, I’m thankful for Aladdin snoring next to me in such a cute humanish way. (Pretty sure thats not a word) ha ha ha I love to hear puppy snores, they are too cute!

Lastly I’m thankful for traveling broadway plays! I’m going to see Les Miserables!

I’ve never read the story, had the story told to me or listened to the music but I just started listening to it today because my sister and her husband surprised us with tickets, so I have to get familiar! I’m so excited though and loving the story already. I’m kind of a die hard Phantom of the Opera fan so I’m pretty sure I’ll love this! You can’t go wrong with broadway/stage plays/musicals! They’re Great! Okay, that was a little tony the tiger but I’m psyched, it will be fun and I promise to provide you with lots of pictures. We’re driving to Dallas the day after Christmas so I might disappear just for the day but I will be back, that’s a promise!

So….. what are you Thankful for?

Happy Thanksgiving!

24 Nov

Hey guys,

It’s me, Aladdin, I hijacked the computer from my mom and just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.

I have three goals to accomplish today:

1. Try to go outside more than 4 times today.

2. Find Maelstrom… (my stuffed hand puppet) and destroy him.

3. Get turkey… no matter what.

Maybe I’ll get turkey if I give them a cute face.

Anyway, Adios guys, I think I have a lead on the whereabouts of Maelstrom.

Happy Thanksgiving!
