31 Aug

Okay, so because I’m still on the move, I can’t seem to share any crafts with you so I thought I’d pull something I made a bit ago and just share it. It was actually the first thing I ever sewed because I’m a very new seamstress so sorry if this seems terribly easy. So I made a receiving blanket, but I wanted it to be much larger than the normal ones, I supposed its more of a tummy time blanket. Here’s my very easy tutorial:

I chose a cute safari/giraffe print and the back side is like a golden yellow/tan color. If there are any of you that don’t know how to sew at all, this is SO easy.

You need:

2 yards of fabric, cordinating or same color. Whatever you prefer.

Thread of your choice

Wash and dry both pieces of fabric so that they pre shrinks.

Iron wrinkles out.

Lay right sides together and pin.

Sew all the way around leaving a hole about the size of your hand.

Inside out the blanket, iron again just to smooth things and get it to lay pretty.

Start sewing right where the hole is and all the way around again.

Ta Da, now you have a lovely gift for a shower or for your own little ones. Super easy, I promise.

For those of you who do know how to sew, go easy on me. I don’t know my sewing terms and I’m sure I’m breaking all the rules but hey it turned out and I’m excited and proud of myself.

Enjoy your Wednesday!

31 Aug

I made it home, but sadly only for a day or two. We came back to pick up more clothing, take care of a few errands and most importantly, to pick up my baby! So in honor of my dear sweet puppy I thought I’d share a montage of Aladdin.

Just a pup!

Picture on the right, he literally hopped onto the chair I was reading in, a very small chair I might add, and burrowed his way into the crook of my arm and napped. This little guy follows me everywhere and I love him. I’m so glad he’s with us now. We’re taking him back to Charlotte with us either tomorrow or the day after.

Wanna Read

29 Aug

Since I’ve just been relaxing and soaking up all of Charlotte, I thought I’d pick up a couple books that looked good and that I’ve been waiting for. I wanted to share them with you and if you want to join, that would be fun!

I started this one a couple days ago and I’ve got about 40 pages left. I had never heard of it, but the review on the top caught my eye. James Dashner, author of The Maze Runner which I really liked had good things to say about this one. So if you like fictional/fantasy, books this one’s been pretty good so far. Sometimes it gets a little confusing, but overall decent.

This one I’ve been waiting for, so I’m excited. I haven’t started it yet, because it just barely came out. If this looks good to you, then, I suggest picking up the first one so your not completely lost. “I Am Number Four” is the name of the first one and I really enjoyed it. The movie just recently came out as well so that was fun to see. However, they changed a lot of things in the movie that made me grumpy, but still fun to see how they portrayed the book on the big screen. So I’m pretty excited to get started with this one. Also fiction/fantasy.

If you can tell, I’m really excited to get home and start some projects to share with you guys. Just a shot of the craft section at Barnes and Noble. Also a lovely green shot of my view from the top story of the bookstore. It’s going to be hard to say goodbye to the trees in Charlotte, but I’m going crazy missing my puppy in Austin.

Something Lovely

29 Aug

Just wanted to share a picture perfect moment on our drive from NYC to Charlotte. It was breathtaking, It only made me realize how much I would love to ride in a hot air balloon. I’ve never been but it seems like it would be so peaceful or maybe just terrifying. Have you ever floated away in a hot air balloon?

To New York and Back

26 Aug

Okay so NYC was AMAZING! Sadly we didn’t get to stay very long and my husband had to work most of the time but we still crammed some tourist fun in. Here’s our trip in mostly pictures:

Notice a theme between these pictures? I had to get harry potter wherever I could. : )

Me and my hunny in central park. Isn’t he handsome!

There she is, The Empire State Building in all her glory. Not sure why I call everything a she. : ) Also a beautiful view from the Empire State Building.

It was SO windy up there! I loved it!

Well I was in NYC and now I’m back in Charlotte awaiting a hurricane that sounds scary. We’ve decided to stay put until after it hits so were not stuck on the road when it comes through. I’m eagerly awaiting my return to Austin to see my puppy! Got ourselves a flashlight, water, snacks and a cozy hotel.

Bring it on Irene!

Staying In

17 Aug

I decided to stay in today and do some laundry so we could have everything ready for NYC! I’m so excited, I’ve never been, so this should be crazy awesome. Thought I would share some random photos from my day with you. Hope you enjoy.

Some goodies I picked up for the trip to NYC.

Sephora: Myrtille It’s great.

It Has to Start Somewhere…

17 Aug

My husband is on a business trip in Charlotte, North Carolina. I had the pleasure of coming with him touring the beautiful city of Charlotte while he works.  During this trip I was inspired to start a blog and share all these thousands of ideas bursting in my head with all of you. I mean, somebody should see them.

So since I’m in this unique situation and I’ll be traveling for the next week or so, I thought I’d share some of my trip with you before I get home and start all the fun crafting tutorials. Awesomely enough my husbands job will be sending us to New York in just a couple days so the fashion fun will start then. Stay tuned for lots of fun!
